The famous Soviet self-taught designer Yuri Ivanovich Algebraistov died at the age of 88. Danila Khainov, the son of Gennady Khainov, an automobile designer of the USSR and Russia, told about this in his Telegram channel on September 23.

Yuri Algebraistov has been building cars since the 70s of the last century. Together with artists Anatoly and Vladimir Shcherbinin, he designed one of the most famous self—made cars in the country, the Yuna sports coupe, based on the GAZ-24 Volga.

"The Yuna car, which hit the roads of Moscow in 1982, was striking in its precision of assembly, meticulous approach to the smallest details, and in no way inferior in build quality to single cars from the world's most renowned manufacturers," said Danila Khainov.

He noted that Algebraistov constantly maintained the car in perfect condition and improved it, regularly participated in car rallies and exhibitions.

"Yuri Ivanovich Algebraistov was an example of a man who completely devoted himself to his work and idea. He literally put his whole soul and himself into his car, which became a part of himself. A car that will forever be a wonderful monument to a wonderful man and his life path," Khainov added.
