The weather forecaster warned of a sharp cold snap in Moscow this week
Monday, September 22, will be the warmest day of the current month, after which a sharp cold snap will begin in the capital. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on September 22.
"The air temperature in Moscow will exceed +25 degrees today, which will be the maximum not only this week, but also for the whole of September. Starting from Tuesday, we will begin advection of cold air. We expect rain, light rain at night, and excessive but short—term rain during the day, and there won't be much precipitation," Pozdnyakova explained.
She clarified that the temperature background on Tuesday will have almost no daily course: the minimum temperature will be +14...+16 degrees, daytime — +16...+18 degrees with a northwesterly wind.
The forecaster noted that on Wednesday, September 24, short-term rains will remain in places.
"In the following days from September 25 to September 27, the weather pattern will be the same, the weather will be determined by the periphery of the cold anticyclone, no significant precipitation is expected. The night temperature is within +2...+7 degrees, the daytime temperature is +7...+12 degrees," the expert said.
The expert warned that in the last five days of September, short-term temperature drops to -1...-2 degrees are not excluded, including frosts on the soil and in the air in low relief areas. The temperature background from the 25th to the 27th will be 3-4 degrees below the climatic norm, and according to the temperature regime these days will be more suitable for the beginning of October, the specialist concluded.
Earlier, on September 17, Pozdnyakova reported an expected cold snap in Moscow by the end of September. However, she noted that it is too early to talk about snow in the capital. According to her, negative air temperature is also not expected yet.
