The Portuguese authorities intend to recognize Palestine as a sovereign State. This was announced on September 20 in a statement by the country's Foreign Ministry on its official website.

"On Sunday, September 21, 2025, <...> Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel will make an official statement on the recognition of the State of Palestine," the publication says.

It is noted that this statement will be confirmed within the framework of the UN General Assembly. During the same period, the Portuguese President will hold bilateral meetings with leaders and representatives of other countries.
