Lavrov pointed to the worldwide demand for such "Intervision" initiatives.
Initiatives such as the international song contest "Intervision" are in demand in the BRICS countries and around the world. This was announced on September 20 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"We initially wanted the BRICS countries and their partners to participate, because there are many cultural and humanitarian events in BRICS, <...> which are in demand in the BRICS countries and, I am sure, all over the world," he said, being in the Live Arena hall, where the final of the competition is taking place.
According to Lavrov, almost immediately after Russia announced the revival of Intervision, many states responded to participate, as the news spread around the world, including reaching geographically and organizationally distant countries from the BRICS.
The minister called the idea of holding an "Intervision" an excellent one. According to him, the initiative "fell on the right ground."
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Intervision finale one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year. He stressed that over the years, the competition has brought together talented performers from around the world, contributed to the development of cultural dialogue and the strengthening of friendship between peoples.
The final of Intervision is taking place in Moscow at the Live Arena. SHAMAN will perform from Russia with Maxim Fadeev's musical composition "Straight to the Heart". Alexander Ovechkin, a Russian hockey player and captain of the Washington Capitals NHL club, has been announced as the cultural ambassador of Intervision 2025. The hosts of the final of the competition were performer Alexey Vorobyov and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aida Garifullina.
