Russian schoolchildren have become winners at the International Olympiad on Climate Change and Environmental Issues (IOCE), held at Sirius. This was announced on September 20 on the website of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
The team from the Russian Federation took the first place in the team competition. The second place went to the team from India, the third was shared by schoolchildren from Qatar and the Republic of Djibouti. Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted that the high performance of the Russian team shows that its members have outstanding knowledge and a deep understanding of global scientific issues.
"Our participants have once again demonstrated a high level of training. We are proud of you! You are making a significant contribution to the future of science and sustainable development, showing initiative and enthusiasm in the fight to preserve our planet," the agency quoted Kravtsov as saying.
In the individual competition, Russian schoolchildren received two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Sofia Salangina (Ufa) became the absolute winner, Emilia Gimaeva also won gold. Nikita Yunisov received the silver medal, and the bronze award went to Milena Ivanova and Polina Egorova.
On August 20, it was reported that Russian schoolchildren won six medals at the International Junior Geography Olympiad in Serbia. The competition was attended by schoolchildren from the Moscow region, Moscow and St. Petersburg. A source from Izvestia clarified on August 21 that two schoolchildren had won gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals. The students applied their knowledge in the theoretical, practical and field parts, where they used not only their knowledge, but also their analytical skills.
