Zelensky announced tough fighting in the Kupyansk area
In the area of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region, "harsh actions" are underway, currently almost half of the settlement is under the control of Russian troops. This was announced on September 20 by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
"Harsh actions are continuing in the Kupyansk area, there are appropriate forces there," the Ukrainian newspaper Glavkom quoted Zelensky as saying.
On the same day, the President of Ukraine announced that he had signed an order to create separate assault troops. Appropriate training has already begun.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Commander of the Joint Group of Troops in the area of the special Military Operation, Army General Valery Gerasimov, on September 17, the Zapad group of Russian troops launched an offensive in the city of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region. Yesterday, military expert Alexei Zhivov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are unlikely to be able to continue to hold Kupyansk.
On September 3, the Russian Defense Ministry released footage of the Russian-controlled territories of Kupyansk. It was noted that at the moment, about half of the city's territory is under the control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
