On Monday, September 22, another lesson from the series "Conversations about important things" will take place in Russian schools and colleges. It will be held on the eve of the Nuclear Industry Workers' Day. It will be dedicated to the development of the nuclear industry in our country and to the concept of a "peaceful atom." The Russian nuclear industry is celebrating a significant anniversary in 2025. Exactly 80 years ago, a Special Committee on the Use of Atomic Energy was formed, which was destined to make a huge contribution to the development of the industry. And 20 years ago, a professional holiday of nuclear engineers was established - the Day of the Nuclear Industry Worker.
Students will talk about the history and achievements of Russian science and technology related to nuclear technologies next Monday. The topic of the new lesson is "Peaceful atom. Nuclear Industry Worker's Day". His task is to form ideas about atomic energy and its peaceful uses, as well as to develop interest in exploring promising areas in this field.
Vladislav Parfenov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Director of the Scientific and Production Center for Medical Devices of JSC NIITFA, the largest scientific and production association in the country, which is a structural unit of the Rosatom State Corporation, will join the lesson in a video interview format.
The lesson will be held in the format of an educational conversation with interactive elements, its duration will be 30 minutes. Methodological materials and recommendations are published on the website of the Conversations about Important project.

Elementary school students (first to fourth grades) will discuss what an atom is, atomic energy and where it finds its application. Students will be able to better understand the topic by watching a fragment of the animated film "Fixiki. Peaceful Atom" and the Rosatom video. Pride. Inspiration. The Dream", which tells about the achievements of Russian scientists in the nuclear industry, including the creation of nuclear icebreakers and nuclear power plants for spacecraft.
In the continuation, students will have to answer the teacher's questions and complete the interactive task "Peaceful atom in our lives." By the end of the lesson, students will have an idea of how the enormous energy of a small atom and atomic technologies help to light and warm our homes, treat people, develop the Arctic, explore the Northern Sea Route, and even open the way to the stars.
In grades 5-7, the lesson will be complemented by a story about nuclear power plants and watching a fragment of the release of the TV show "Cool Topic" with Mikhail Skripkin "About Atomic Energy". Then the students will embark on an exciting virtual journey through the world of nuclear technology and find out what Russian nuclear scientists are working on today.
Students of grades 8-9 will also talk about the history of the formation and key achievements of the Russian nuclear industry. In addition, students will learn which three key words determine the importance and scale of the nuclear industry in Russia. They will also discuss professions related to the nuclear industry, such as nuclear physicist, radiologist, captain of a nuclear icebreaker, and others.
In graduating grades 10-11 and colleges, students will discuss promising areas of the nuclear industry and what its achievements are affecting our lives right now. The main focus of the lesson will be on developing an interest in the further study of natural sciences and technologies, as well as issues and problems related to the nuclear industry and nuclear energy.

"Conversations about important things" is a series of extracurricular activities dedicated to the history, culture and geography of Russia, as well as topical topics from the daily life of schoolchildren. It was launched by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022. Classes are held every Monday in all schools and colleges in the country.
The previous lesson took place on September 15 on the eve of the international music competition "Intervision-2025". It was dedicated to the topic of creativity and the development of creative abilities, including musical ones.
