The Russians were not injured in the collision of the Right Whale vessel with the Tafra 3 trawler off the coast of Nouadhibou. This was reported to Izvestia on September 19 at the Russian Embassy in Mauritania.

"The Embassy is aware of the incident. According to the information received from the ship's agent at the moment, the crew of the Right Whale includes Russian citizens, there were no Russian citizens on board the Tafra 3 vessel. According to the embassy, Russian citizens were not injured in the incident. The causes of the collision are being determined by the competent authorities of Mauritania. We are closely monitoring the development of the situation," the Russian diplomatic mission said.

Earlier that day, it became known that off the coast of Nouadhibou in Mauritania, the 105-meter vessel Right Whale rammed the 31-meter freezer trawler Tafra 3. Of the 26 crew members, 21 were rescued. The remaining five people are missing. The captain of the Right Whale was arrested after giving evidence to the local gendarmerie. According to The Maritime Executive (ME), one of the crew members was a man from Russia. He survived the shipwreck.
