- The scammers began to deceive the participants with the promise of payments of 500 thousand rubles.
The scammers began stealing money from the participants of the special military operation (SVO) and their families, creating websites for charity foundations and offering participation in a fictitious investment program with monthly "support" of up to 500 thousand rubles. This was announced on September 19 by cybercrime specialists.
"The attackers are creating duplicate websites where they promise payments to fighters and their families, allegedly on the orders of the president. Deepfakes with reviews are posted on the pages and indicate that the program is already being used by thousands of participants of the SVO," RIA Novosti reported.
According to experts, scammers demand to make a contribution of 50 thousand rubles and promise income of up to 21% per month. The purpose of scammers is not only to steal money, but also to steal personal data and infect victims' devices with malware.
"This is the first time we have recorded the use of deepfakes in schemes against participants in a special operation," said analyst Anastasia Knyazeva.
Experts urge to double-check information about government support only in official sources and be attentive to website domains.
