On September 18, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) explained its decision not to suspend athletes from Israel by saying that they peacefully coexist with competitors from Palestine.

"The National Olympic Committees of Israel and Palestine are recognized by the IOC and have equal rights. Both organizations follow the principles of the Olympic Charter," the Inside The Games portal quotes the IOC statement, citing the EFE news agency.
