Izvestia reference

In 2009, Vladimir Putin, who was then Prime Minister of Russia, proposed holding an international song contest in which not only European countries, but also the states of the former USSR could participate. However, at that time, this initiative had not been developed.

After the suspension of Russia's membership in the European Broadcasting Union (the organizer of Eurovision) in 2022, talks about such a project resumed. In the autumn of 2023, the concept of a new competition "Intervision" was presented at the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. It was originally planned to be held in 2024 in St. Petersburg, but later the dates and venue were changed.

The organizers emphasize that the main mission of the contest is to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of the participating countries, expand international dialogue and promote values that unite different peoples. Therefore, each participant has prepared a short video about their country, and the contest songs will be performed live.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted the growing interest in the event, stressing that the topic of "Intervision" is widely discussed on the Internet.

Who will win the Intervision in 2025

Producer and composer Maxim Fadeev was one of the first to identify his preferences on the eve of Intervision 2025. Among the performers who made the greatest impression on him, he singled out Kazakh singer Amre (Yernar Sadirbayev), Chinese singer Wang Xi and the Kyrgyz band Nomad.

According to him, the Kazakh number is distinguished by its special beauty and richness of musical tradition: melody and harmony are organically combined with national intonations. The participants from Kyrgyzstan were also highly appreciated — their performance is noted as subtle, emotional and filled with nuances, capable of evoking a strong response from listeners.

Fadeev paid special attention to the vocals of Chinese artist Wang Xi. In his opinion, his baritone sounds powerful and academic, with rich low notes and light delivery. These qualities make the performer stand out from the other participants.

At the same time, the Russian participant SHAMAN was not among the producer's favorites. Nevertheless, he wished Yaroslav good luck and stressed that success in the competition would depend on the sincerity and honesty of the performers on stage.

Music critic Sergey Neighbors said that the victory could go not to Russia, but to neighboring countries, for example, to a singer from Belarus or Kazakhstan, "if their performers prepare emotionally stronger numbers."

According to music experts, the main contenders for the victory in "Intervision 2025" will be representatives of China and Korea. These countries set the bar high not only in musical performance, but also in the production of numbers, where every detail is important — from visual design to emotional presentation. It is the combination of professional vocals and a vibrant show that can provide them with leadership and increase their chances of hosting the next competition.

However, the meaning of "Intervision" goes beyond musical rivalry. The event becomes a platform for demonstrating cultural and political influence. The participation of countries from different continents, including the United States, highlights the importance of cultural exchange and serves as an element of the so-called "soft power" influencing international relations. Thus, the competition is considered not only as a musical event, but also as an instrument of diplomacy, where each country strives to emphasize its achievements and attractiveness on the world stage.

Who will choose the winner

The jury of the competition is made up of well-known representatives of the world of music and culture from different countries. It includes Russian producer Igor Matvienko, Egyptian musicologist Mohsen Al-Sayed Iissa, Indian composer Jan Nissar Lone, People's Artist of Uzbekistan Mansur Tashmatov, general producer of the National Television and Radio Company of Belarus Olga Shlyager, as well as DJ Pinye from Kenya.

The jury will pay special attention to the performer's vocal abilities, the originality and cultural identity of the performance, as well as stagecraft. At the same time, the order of performances of the contestants in the final is determined in advance by drawing lots. The organizers note that this format will make the choice as transparent as possible and focus not on the popularity of the performer, but on the artistic level of the material presented by him.
