The Kremlin assessed the prospects for the reform of the UN Security Council
The reform of the UN Security Council requires consensus. This was stated at a briefing on September 17 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on September 17.
"We consistently support the idea of the need to reform the UN Security Council and adapt the Security Council to the new realities of modern times. <...> But in order to reach the possibility of reforming the Security Council, we need to come to some kind of consensus. Now, when the positions of the countries and permanent members of the Security Council are so diametrically opposed, of course, it is de facto impossible to reach a consensus," Peskov said.
