Standards for harvesting wood for heating will be reduced in Transbaikalia
In Transbaikalia, it is proposed to reduce the standards for harvesting wood for heating in the region. This possibility is being discussed in the regional Ministry of Natural Resources.
As noted by the deputies of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, in some areas the situation with forest resources is approaching critical due to the growing condition of logging areas.
The standard for heating today is up to 45 cubic meters per site. It can be reduced to 30 cubic meters. The goal is to reduce wood surpluses and combat illegal trade, writes ChitaMedia news agency.
Earlier, on September 11, it was reported that four local residents were detained in Transbaikalia for illegally cutting down 464 pines and larches in the Karymsky district. A 30-year-old resident of Darasun, the owner of a sawmill, was recognized as the organizer of a criminal scheme. A criminal case has been opened. The man and his three accomplices illegally cut down trees, processed the wood and sold it as lumber.
