Gryzlov called Poland's refusal to observe the Zapad–2025 exercises indicative
The refusal of the Baltic States and Poland to observe the Russian-Belarusian Zapad-2025 exercises is absolutely logical and indicative in the light of the disinformation campaign launched by the media of these countries. This was announced on September 16 by Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov.
"This moment is extremely significant in the context of a large-scale disinformation campaign, which was launched, in fact, at the suggestion of these states. If the Baltic capitals really believed that the Zapad–2025 exercises posed a threat, they would certainly send their experts, instructing them to look under every stone. This has not been done," Gryzlov wrote on his Telegram channel.
There is a real panic in the media space of some NATO and EU countries about the Zapad –2025 exercises, which is due to the statements of the leadership of these countries and their further promotion in controlled media, Gryzlov said. He noted that Latvia, Lithuania and Poland were invited to observe the course of the maneuvers, but refused.
As the politician added, if observers from these countries had attended the exercises, they would have been able to write in the report only like this: "Rumors about the unfriendly nature of the exercises were greatly exaggerated." However, it is not beneficial to admit that the allied exercises are defensive in nature and are not directed against third countries.
"We are constantly witnessing the creation of unhealthy information hype around our joint exercises with Belarusians. As soon as they are completed, the intensity of the rhetoric abruptly fades. For our western neighbors, this is just a convenient way to attract the attention of other NATO members and strengthen their positions within the alliance as "border guards," the expert added.
He also noted that Poland's recent closure of the border with Belarus is not motivated by anything from a security standpoint, and has only political reasons.
"At the same time, the economic consequences of closing the border are quite real and tangible, since a significant part of goods from Eurasia and, in particular, China go to Europe through Belarus and Poland. Warsaw will still have to justify itself to Brussels, to Beijing, and to its own citizens and businesses," Gryzlov concluded.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in the Volga Federal District on September 16 to open the Zapad-2025 exercises, noted that their purpose was exclusively defensive. Putin noted that in total, about 10,000 weapons and equipment systems will be involved in the maneuvers, including 333 aircraft that make up tactical, strategic and military transport aircraft.
Zapad-2025 exercises are held from September 12 to September 16. Poland has closed its border with Belarus because of them. On September 15, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced that the US military had attended the Zapad-2025 exercises. In addition, representatives of 23 states, including three from NATO countries, also took part in the exercises.: USA, Turkey and Hungary.
