The fuel depots of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) were not damaged by artillery fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the resulting fire. This was announced on September 16 by Evgenia Yashina, Director of Communications at ZAES.

"The station's fuel depots were not damaged as a result of shelling and fire," she said in an interview with TASS.

According to her, the Zaporizhia NPP has a sufficient amount of fuel for backup generators, which may be required if the external power supply is completely lost.

Earlier that day, the press service of the NPP reported an artillery attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of the facility's fuel depots. As a result, vegetation caught fire. It was noted that the distance from the fire source to the diesel fuel tanks was about 400 m. Despite the shelling, the radiation background at the station and the surrounding area remained within the normal range.
