The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has repelled more than 10,000 hacker attacks in six months

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has repelled more than 10,000 hacker attacks on the department's infrastructure in the first half of 2025, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov announced on September 16.

"To protect against external threats, we have completely switched to domestic computer systems and Russian software, using cryptographic protection, a monitoring system aimed at preventing leaks of sensitive information, monitoring user actions and detecting intrusions. In the first half of this year alone, over 10,000 external attacks on the department's infrastructure were repelled," Krasnov said in a statement at a meeting of the heads of the prosecutor's offices of the BRICS countries.

He noted that to prevent hacker attacks, department employees used methods such as cryptographic protection, a monitoring system aimed at preventing leaks of sensitive information, monitoring user actions and intrusion detection.

It is specified that last year the Prosecutor General approved a three-year plan for the introduction of artificial intelligence in the prosecutor's office with the aim of practical use of automation tools and large language models in the exercise of the authority of the department. He added that partners, including Sberbank and Rostelecom, were involved in solving this problem.

In addition, Krasnov stressed that artificial intelligence has significant potential for building accurate criminological forecasts.

Attackers can be not only hackers, but also employees of banks, departments and organizations.

Earlier, on September 13, the chairman of the commission, Ella Pamfilova, reported about 100 hacker attacks on the remote electronic voting (DEG) infrastructure since the start of voting in the elections. In addition, over 130,000 attacks were carried out on the Internet portal of the Central Election Commission of Russia.
