The countries of the European Union (EU) discussing the adoption of the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions can safely replace it with the term "conveyor" and calm down, because then it will be clear to everyone that the machine does not turn off. This was announced on September 16 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The only question that I really don't understand is: why call it all packages? You can just call the pipeline once and calm down. I think it will be closer to the truth," the diplomat said ironically in an interview with TASS.

She added that in this case, the work of the members of the European Commission (EC) will really resemble a kind of non-switching machine, and people "at least will not get confused."

"Another pipeline of anti-Russian sanctions. It will be appropriate to the situation, and probably [it] will be one of the few things they won't lie about," Zakharova said.

European Commission representative Paula Pinho said at a briefing in Brussels on the same day that the EC was continuing to discuss the 19th package of sanctions against Russia and would present it "when it is ready." The exact dates for updating the sanctions list have not yet been announced. Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, told Izvestia that each new package of sanctions is another shot in the foot for European economic well—being.

On August 29, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, called on EU countries to impose secondary sanctions against oil supplies from Russia, which will be similar to restrictions imposed by the United States.
