The United States and China have agreed on the work of TikTok on the Chinese algorithm

Following two days of talks in Madrid, China and the United States agreed that TikTok's American subsidiary would use the algorithm of the parent ByteDance. This was reported on September 16 by the Financial Times newspaper.

"The parties have agreed on a structure that includes licensing of the algorithm and other intellectual property rights," said Wang Jintao, deputy head of China's cybersecurity regulator.

According to him, ByteDance will retain responsibility for the security of data and content on American TikTok. The agreement will allow the platform to continue operating in the United States, despite long-running geopolitical disputes over recommendation technology.

On July 5, Trump announced that he was ready to purchase TikTok. Earlier, on June 19, he announced that he had signed a decree extending the operation of this platform in the country for 90 days, that is, until September 17, 2025.

On September 15, Washington and Beijing reached a framework agreement to decide the fate of the TikTok social network in the United States. American Finance Minister Scott Bessent noted that the agreement provides for the transfer of ownership of the platform under the control of American structures.
