The prosecutor's office has requested 10 years in a special regime penal colony for criminal boss Vasya Bandit (real name Igor Kokunov) in the case of occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy. This was announced on September 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the hall of the Moscow Regional Court.

The prosecutor asked for a fine of 1 million rubles to be imposed on Kokunov, as well as a measure of restraint in the form of detention. At the moment, the defendant has spent a total of 3 years and 10 months in jail and under house arrest. At the same time, Kokunov does not admit his guilt.

Speaking in the debate, lawyer Maria Kazantseva asked to take into account her client's illnesses, refuse to impose a fine, lift the seizure of his property and pass an acquittal.

Kokunov was arrested in June 2020. According to investigators, he held the title of a thief in law and had been promoting a criminal subculture since 1993. The man was repeatedly convicted of theft, robbery, extortion and robbery.

Earlier that day, the Bandit was placed under house arrest due to deteriorating health.

The investigation into the Kokunov case was completed at the end of April 2021. In February 2022, the day before the new meeting, Kokunov took off his bracelet and ran away. In 2023, the man was put on the international wanted list, and later he was detained at a checkpoint between Albania and Montenegro on an Interpol warrant. In the fall of 2024, Kokunov was extradited to Russia.
