A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The North group of troops hit the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 185 militants, seven vehicles, three field artillery guns, two counter-battery radar stations and six material depots. In addition, the Zapad group of troops improved the tactical situation, defeated the manpower and equipment of the AFU brigades in the Kharkiv region and the DPR.

"The units of the Center group of forces have improved their position along the front line. They defeated the manpower and equipment of three mechanized, motorized infantry, jaeger, assault, three amphibious assault brigades, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three marine brigades, two air defense brigades and two National Guard brigades in the areas of the settlements of Artemovka, Rodinskoye, Dimitrov and Krasnoarmeysk of the Donetsk People's Republic. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to 445 soldiers, an armored combat vehicle and four vehicles," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated a fuel base, a logistics hub for the distribution of weapons and military equipment supplied to the Armed Forces by Western countries, storage and launch sites for long-range drones, as well as temporary locations for Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 153 areas. In turn, air defense systems shot down 357 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 84,508 UAVs, 628 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,123 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,591 multiple rocket launchers, 29,619 field artillery and mortars, 41,911 pieces of special vehicles.
