- The US Department of Justice announced that Robinson had been charged with first-degree murder.
The suspect in the murder of Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, will be charged with first-degree murder. This was announced by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi in an interview with Fox News on Monday, September 15.
"He will be charged, most likely tomorrow or later this week, with first—degree murder," she said.
Also, according to her, the governor of Utah intends to seek the death penalty for Robinson, which is allowed in this state.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Robinson had been placed in solitary confinement. He is under special supervision so that experts can determine his danger to themselves and others. As of September 14, Robinson pleaded not guilty and refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Charlie Kirk, who contributed to the victory of US President Donald Trump in the presidential election, died on September 10 as a result of an assassination attempt against him. Kirk's widow Erica suggested that his death could have been caused by the fact that he preached patriotism, faith and the merciful love of God.
Against the background of the incident, Trump ordered to lower the national flags on American administrative buildings until 18:00 (01:00 Moscow time) on September 14. He also shared that he would be going to Kirk's funeral.
