An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred near Kamchatka

An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 was recorded near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This was announced on September 15 on the official website of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

It is specified that the depth of the seismic event was 25 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded 157 km northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

No tsunami threat was reported.

Earlier that day, it became known about a magnitude 5.8 earthquake in the Pacific Ocean near Kamchatka. It was specified that the depth of the seismic event was 50.3 km. The epicenter was 107 km northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
