Bild learned about the rescuers' attempt to get to the body of biathlete Dahlmeier
Rescuers will try to get to the body of two-time Olympic biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier, who died in the Karakoram Mountains. This was reported on September 15 by the Bild newspaper with reference to the Pakistani mountain guide Kalim Shani.
Dahlmeier died on July 29 at the age of 31 after being hit by a rockfall while climbing a peak in the Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan. She and her partner climbed to a height of about 6 thousand m. The athletes decided to climb the peak with a minimum amount of equipment and without expedition logistics.
It is reported that Dahlmeier's written will states her desire to leave her own body on the mountain in case of death.
On July 31, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced that it was grieving over Dahlmeier's death. They added that the biathlete's death is being experienced by all athletes, not only of the German, but also of the world association.
