American society is extremely polarized right now. This was announced on September 14 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk in the United States.

"It's up to American law enforcement officials to figure out whether these are some isolated episodes or some kind of trend, which is much worse. But the fact that society is extremely polarized now is true," he said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Charlie Kirk died as a result of an attempted shooting on September 10. On September 12, Trump called for the death penalty to be imposed on the shooter, which, as pointed out by Utah Governor Spencer Cox, is legal in this area. Kirk's farewell will take place at the State Farm Stadium on September 21.

Kirk's widow Erica said on September 13 that her husband was killed because he preached patriotism, faith and the merciful love of God. She also noted that her husband's legacy will not disappear and she will make every effort to turn Kirk's organization, Turning Point USA, into "the greatest in the country."
