Malaysia reports on Trump and Putin's visit to the ASEAN summit
Russian President Vladimir Putin, American Leader Donald Trump and Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Kuala Lumpur in October. This was reported on September 12 by the Malaysian Bernama news agency, citing Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
"The event will also be attended by US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang," the publication says.
Ibrahim also noted that Brazilian President Lula da Silva and South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa had confirmed their participation in the summit.
On September 9, Trump announced that he would have a telephone conversation with Putin this week or next. Prior to that, on September 7, the American leader said he wanted to talk to the Russian president soon.
On September 5, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not rule out a second round of talks between Putin and Trump. According to him, if necessary, a meeting between the two leaders can be organized very quickly.
