A resident of Rome was forbidden to feed pigeons after neighbors complained
Rome authorities have banned a local resident from feeding dozens of pigeons after numerous complaints from her neighbors about feathers and droppings. This was reported on September 12 by The Guardian newspaper.
"The mayor of Rome ordered a woman to stop feeding dozens of pigeons that had invaded an apartment building," the article says.
The local press nicknamed the woman the "pigeon lady" for constantly feeding flocks of birds. As a result, according to eyewitnesses, a thick layer of droppings covered buildings and public areas, as well as parked cars.
"I am an animal rights activist from the Italian Bird Protection League, a large environmental organization in Italy dedicated to wildlife conservation. I save animals in trouble. I don't feed them for fun. I'm saving pigeons," the woman said.
It is specified that in case of non-compliance with the requirements, the order will be enforced, including with the involvement of law enforcement agencies.
