In Moscow, the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication has fallen by a third.

According to the results of eight months of 2025, a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 30.5% was recorded in Moscow. The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate reported this in its Telegram channel on September 12.

The number of people killed and injured in road accidents caused by drunk drivers also decreased by 70.9% and 20.4%, respectively, during this period.

In just eight months of this year, 164 accidents involving drivers driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol were registered in Moscow, resulting in 16 deaths and 222 injuries.

The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers not to drive while intoxicated, so as not to endanger their own lives, the lives of their loved ones, as well as other road users.

"It is necessary to understand that alcohol negatively affects various types of perception: The drunk driver's reaction rate to changes in the traffic situation becomes low. The driver cannot identify the traffic light signals or distinguish the marking lines. He may not notice a pedestrian at night," the department noted.

On September 11, the State Traffic Inspectorate reported that in the first ten days of September, 548 accidents involving minors under the age of 16 occurred in Russia, in which 10 children were killed and 609 injured.
