In Bratsk, a fraudster disguised as a broker lured a pensioner out of 10 million rubles

In Bratsk, a pensioner became a victim of a fraudster and transferred 10 million rubles to him. This was reported on September 12 in the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Irkutsk region.

"Bratchanka lost money by trusting a fake broker. She transferred her own savings, took out loans secured by two apartments and a car, and also borrowed money from relatives and acquaintances," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that a friend of the woman advised her of an investment company, after which a false employee of the exchange contacted the woman. He created a fake online account, which displayed high profitability.

The fraudster convinced the victim to contribute large sums, including loans secured by property and from relatives. As a result, after transferring a large amount, the woman received a verification message, after which the victim's spouse realized that they had been deceived and contacted the police.

"At first, the investments brought income, so I was glad that my wife was successfully investing. Then I was surprised that it takes a large amount of money to withdraw money from the account. I told her it was a scam," the victim's husband said.

Police officers initiated a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on an especially large scale").

On August 29, MVD Media reported that fraudsters had involved a 74-year-old pensioner in an illegal scheme to steal 1.5 million rubles from an 86-year-old woman. It was clarified that earlier the man himself turned out to be a victim of intruders and agreed to commit a crime in order to return the money previously stolen from him. According to the instructions, the man arrived in Nefteyugansk, took the bag with money from the woman and went to the hotel to wait for instructions.
