- The winners of the photo contest "The most beautiful country" from the Russian Geographical Society have been announced
The exposition at the New Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val in Moscow presented the works of the winners of the international competition "The Most Beautiful Country", which is held by the Russian Geographical Society (RGS).
Among the presented works, the foggy coast of Simushir Island was recognized as the best landscape. The wildlife was beautifully captured by a picture of a sad seal, and the owl defeated the birds at the moment of hunting. The undisputed star of the exhibition was the snow leopard, captured on the Chikhachev Ridge.
The jury admitted that choosing the winner turned out to be incredibly difficult, because each picture was worthy of the highest award.
"These are not just beautiful photos. These are photos that have a twist that somehow catches on even more. There are a lot of worthy works, it can be difficult to choose three from the list of ten selected. Three is hard, you always want to choose at least five or six," said Hero of Russia, Russian Cosmonaut Ivan Wagner.
About 50,000 photos were submitted to this contest, with the main condition being that all of them had to be taken only in Russia.
On August 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian Geographical Society on its 180th anniversary. In addition, he stated that thanks to the Russian Geographical Society, the country has become one of the leaders in the areas of balanced development and use of natural resources and the formation of global transport routes.
