The water level in the Lena River is rising due to rains

In Yakutia, the water level in the Lena River has increased within the Lena region. In the village of Vitim, the water outlet to the floodplain was recorded. The water level near the village reached 723 cm with an adverse event mark of 650 cm. Thus, the excess was 73 cm.

According to IA YakutiaMedia, the Yakut UGMS warned that the maximum of the rain flood is expected on September 13. The additional water rise will be 0.3 – 0.4 m.

In early September, it was reported that three waves of floods occurred on the Chita River in 2025 in Transbaikalia. This is unusual for the region. Flood events were recorded in July and August, and they continue in September. The last major flood on the Chita River occurred three years earlier, in 2022. Earlier, in 2018, the water level rose to a critical level of 4 m.
