Preparations are underway in Birobidzhan for the construction of a new bridge across the Biru River. The specialists conducted engineering surveys, which resulted in determining the technical parameters of the facility.

The bridge will be built as part of a concession agreement, which was concluded with the support of Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev at the end of 2024. The length of the structure will exceed 350 m. It will be supported by 12 pillars. Two 3.5 m wide lanes will be covered with crushed stone-mastic asphalt concrete. The width of the pedestrian sidewalks will be 2.5 m each.

While a new bridge is being built, a temporary ferry will be installed 100 m upstream. This is necessary to preserve traffic across the river and ensure the continuous operation of heating networks. Then the temporary bridge will be dismantled, and the territory in its place will be put in order.

According to acting head of the EAO Maria Kostyuk, quoted by IA EAOmedia, the new bridge over Bira is one of the key logistics projects in the region, it will ensure comfortable and safe movement around the city all year round.

Earlier it was reported about plans to repair the bridge over the Shchukinka-3 River on the Birobidzhan—UngunLeninskoye road and the bridge over the Malaya Samarka River on the Birobidzhan—Amurzet road. The work was to be carried out within the framework of the national project "Safe high-quality roads".
