In Utah, where political activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated, the death penalty is allowed. This was announced on August 10 by the governor of the state, Spencer Cox.
"This is a tragic day for our nation. I want to make it very clear: This is a political assassination. <...> I just want to remind people that we still have the death penalty in Utah," he said during a briefing.
