In the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region, one person was killed and one injured as a result of a truck collision. A criminal case has been opened, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, September 9, on the 42nd km of the federal highway R-23 St. Petersburg – Pskov. The 31-year-old Hino truck driver lost control and hit two men who were standing on the side of the road near a Volkswagen Polo passenger car.

As a result of a hit-and-run, a 73-year-old man died on the spot. The second victim, 39 years old, was hospitalized in serious condition, the Pskov News Feed writes.

The truck driver has been detained. A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person." All the circumstances of the tragedy are being established.

On September 8, in Armavir, a Lada Granta driver hit three teenagers who were crossing the road on a zebra crossing. Two 13-year-old boys died, and a 15-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition. A criminal case has been opened.
