The FSB detained a resident of the Kherson region for publicly calling for extremism

Employees of the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region stopped the activities of a Russian involved in public calls for extremism. This was announced on September 10 in the press service of the department.

"The suspect systematically posted comments on the foreign Internet messenger Telegram, accessible to an unlimited number of users, containing calls to commit violence against a group of people united along ethnic lines," the message says.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for extremist activities"). According to this article, the defendant faces up to five years in prison. The man was taken into custody.

Currently, all the circumstances of the Russian's illegal activities are being established, as well as his criminal connections are being revealed.

Earlier, on July 24, the FSB's Public Relations Center reported the detention of nine Russians in the country for calling for the killing of military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces. The arrests took place in the Astrakhan, Vladimir, Murmansk, Omsk, Kherson and Yaroslavl regions, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region. The defendants were taken into custody.
