Trump announced the continuation of trade negotiations with India
On September 9, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington was continuing negotiations with New Delhi to remove trade barriers. He announced this on September 10.
"I am pleased to announce that India and the United States of America are continuing negotiations to remove trade barriers between our two countries," he shared on the Truth Sochial social network.
The US leader also said he was looking forward to speaking with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming weeks.
"I am confident that there will be no difficulties in a successful conclusion [of the negotiations] for our great countries," Trump concluded.
On September 4, Trump abandoned a trade agreement with India over Russian oil. The source said that India had offered a significant reduction in duties on American goods, but this did not help to conclude a deal.
On August 26, it was reported that trade duties of 50%, which were previously announced by the US president, have already begun to apply to India. It was noted that the tariffs affected goods, which included precious stones, jewelry, shoes, sports equipment, as well as furniture and chemicals.
