Rioters in Nepal set fire to the Gautama Buddha Airport in Bhairahava and cars in the airport parking lot. This was reported on September 9 on the Khabarhub portal.

"Pratap Babu Tiwari, Director General of the airport, confirmed that five four—wheeled and two two-wheeled vehicles were damaged in the incident," the publication said.

The CEO of Bhairahava Airport also noted that the critical infrastructure of the airport was not significantly affected.

Earlier in the day, protesters set fire to the central office of the ruling Nepali Congress Party in Kathmandu. The wife of the former Prime Minister of Nepal, Jalanath Khanala Rajyalakshmi Chitrakar, died in hospital from burns sustained as a result of an attack by protesters on their house.

As a result of the riots, 22 people were killed and about 500 injured.
