British production designer Stuart Craig, who created the visual world of the Harry Potter films, has died at the age of 83 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. This was announced on September 8 by Neil Lamont, a member of the British Guild of Film Designers.

"It is with great sadness that I announce that my friend and mentor, production designer Stuart Craig, died last night, September 7, 2025, at the age of 83, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease," Lamont wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

Craig was born in 1942 in Norwich and began his career in the late 1960s. He was a three—time Oscar winner for his work on the historical dramas Gandhi (1982), Dangerous Liaisons (1988) and The English Patient (1996).

In addition, the production designer took part in all the films about Harry Potter, and also worked on the trilogy of films "Fantastic Beasts".

"What a wonderful mentor! I bet if you ask, "Which designer would you most like to work with?", the answer is 100%: Stuart Craig, and anyone who met him will remember this meeting forever," Lamont added.
