Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Tajikistan is scheduled for October 9. This was announced on September 8 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.
"On October 9 of this year, the President of the Russian Federation will pay a state visit to the Republic of Tajikistan," the deputy head of the department said at a reception at the Tajik Embassy dedicated to the Republic's Independence Day, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Pankin stressed that the presidents of both countries set the tone for bilateral relations and show how important it is to maintain friendship in difficult global conditions. According to him, Putin's meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will give a new powerful impetus to the development of ties and open up new vectors for bilateral contacts.
On September 1, Putin met with Rahmon at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. According to Putin, he and the President of Tajikistan are in constant contact. The Russian leader clarified that the governments of the two countries also interact with each other on a regular basis.
On September 8, the Russian leader congratulated the head of Tajikistan on the country's Independence Day and noted the successful development of relations between the two states.
