A suspect in the illegal sale of drugs was detained in the Irkutsk region.
In the Irkutsk region, a 49-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking was detained during operational search activities. This was announced on September 8 by the press service of the Main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Irkutsk region in the Telegram channel.
"The police allegedly found heroin in the attacker's vehicle, and also seized about 70 thousand rubles and three cell phones," the department said.
In addition, during a search at the suspect's place of residence, packing scales and about 35 grams of the same powdery substance that he had buried in the ground were also found. It was also possible to find nine foil bundles with compressed substances. The seized items were sent for examination by forensic experts.
The detainee himself admitted that he bought some of the drugs for self—consumption, and some for sale. The man had previously been convicted.
"A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 4 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Sale of narcotic drugs on a large scale"). A preventive measure has been chosen for the accused in the form of detention," the department concluded.
On August 25, a pensioner from Kaliningrad received eight years in prison for selling 33 kg of drugs. According to the investigation, in July 2023, the man joined an interregional drug group through the Internet, which was engaged in the supply of prohibited substances to Siberia. He packaged bulk shipments of drugs and organized a network of caches in three regions: the Krasnoyarsk and Altai Territories, as well as in the Novosibirsk region.
