The European Union (EU) needs to carry out a fundamental reorganization to prevent its potential disintegration. This was announced on September 7 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at an event of the ruling FIDESZ— Hungarian Civil Union party.

"The EU needs to be reorganized in order to avoid its disintegration," Hungarian MEP Andrasz Laszlo quoted Orban as saying on the social network X.

The Hungarian Prime Minister explained that from 2008 to 2025, the share of the united Europe in the global market decreased by 7%. At the same time, the United States acquired 4%. Such an increase in global competition and the loss of positions, according to the head of the Hungarian government, pose a direct threat to the EU.

Earlier in the day, Orban called on EU leaders to travel to Moscow for a security agreement with Russia. He clarified that the agreement should mean that Ukraine will not be able to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance or the European Union.
