Patriarch Kirill called the processions a testimony to the faith of Russians
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia called on believers to revive the tradition of family participation in religious processions, as they serve as evidence of faith. He stated this on September 7 after the divine service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
The Patriarch noted that today Russians have restored the glorious tradition of Moscow processions. The tradition of Moscow-wide religious processions dates back more than four centuries, he recalled.
"The processions testified to the deep faith of our people, including Muscovites, who led at that time the historical unification of Russia and its struggle for independence and independence," the Monastyrsky Vestnik quoted the patriarch as saying.
The Moscow-wide procession ended at the walls of the Novodevichy Convent in Moscow. The believers covered a route of about 6 km.
Earlier in the day, the Moscow—wide church procession started in Moscow. It was noted that at the time of the procession, the faithful will walk from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior to the Novodevichy Convent.
