Information about the arrest of a cyclist from France on the border of Russia and China is not true. This statement was made on Sunday, August 7, by the press service of the Far Eastern Customs Administration.
"The information that customs officers in Vladivostok detained a French citizen on the Russian-Chinese border is not true. The customs officers of the Far East did not detain the citizen mentioned in the media," the statement said.
In addition, the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation also did not confirm the information.
The Le Monde newspaper reported on the detention of French cyclist Sofiane Sehili for illegally crossing the border a day earlier. According to the newspaper, since July of this year, the cyclist has traveled through Tajikistan, Mongolia and China.
