Russian climber Natalia Nagovitsina violated the rules, and therefore she would not have been credited with climbing Victory Peak in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced on September 6 by Soviet and Russian mountaineer Vladimir Shataev.

According to him, a climber can enter a route of a new category if he has completed two routes of the previous category.

"At one time, she went to Lenin Peak, which has a category of 4B, before completing two routes 4A. Then I went to Khan Tengri (5A), having completed only one route 4B. According to the rules, such ascents, with "skipping", cannot be counted at all," Shataev said in an interview with kp.ru .

It is specified that in this case the climber would not have received the "Snow Leopard" badge. Shataev stressed that this year 11 people have been awarded this award, two of them are women. A total of 716 people, including 35 women, have been awarded the Snow Leopard since 1960.

The fact that the Russian woman was stuck at the peak of Victory became known on August 19. She broke her leg during the descent and stayed at altitude for several weeks. In the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, after Dmitry Grekov, the head of the mountaineering base camp, announced the completion of the rescue operation on August 23, Nagovitsina was declared missing on August 27.

On September 2, Russian TV presenter and blogger Victoria Bonya posted a video from a drone, which, according to her, captures the body of a Russian climber stuck on a peak. The footage shows that the climber's tent is closed, and there are no signs of a woman's life inside.

The next day, Alexander Pyatnitsin, Vice-president of the Russian Mountaineering Federation, did not confirm Nagovitsina's death at Victory Peak, as her body had not been found. He clarified that he could not agree with the opinion of Boney, who announced the death of the climber.
