Lokomotiv beat Traktor in the KHL Opening Cup match
On September 5, the Lokomotiv hockey club from Yaroslavl defeated Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Opening Cup match of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
The confrontation on the ice arena ended with a score of 2:1 and took place at the Arena 2000 stadium in Yaroslavl.
Egor Surin and Maxim Berezkin scored points for the home team. Pierrick Dube scored a goal for Traktor.
"Lokomotiv will play their next match in the KHL FONBET championship on September 9 against Severstal, Traktor will face Barys on September 7," Sport-Express informs.
Earlier, on September 2, the KHL changed the rules for the status of players with a Russian passport. Starting from the 2025/26 season, such hockey players will no longer be counted in the foreign players' limit, even if they are not eligible to play for the Russian national teams. The new policy is aimed at supporting Russian players and developing the league.
