Holding the summit of the "coalition of the willing" in Paris has become an inappropriate place for the discussion of European leaders on Ukraine. This was reported on September 5 by the American magazine Responsible Statecraft (RS).

"Paris turned out to be an extremely unsuccessful venue for the summit of the European coalition of the willing to discuss support for Ukraine this week. Five days after the meeting, there may well be no government in France," wrote columnist Anatole Lieven in an article for RS.

At the same time, Lieven clarified that at the moment it is not known which country would be more suitable for holding such a meeting of European leaders.

The day before, French President Emmanuel Macron indicated the readiness of 26 European countries to participate in ensuring Ukraine's security. He added that representatives of 35 countries took part in the discussions. In addition, the French leader clarified that the troops would be based outside the front line.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on August 31 that European countries are developing a specific plan for a possible military presence in Ukraine after the conflict ends, which will be fully supported by the capabilities of the United States.
