Actor Steven Seagal called himself a Russian
On September 5, American actor Steven Seagal announced after the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) that he is Russian.
"I don't work with the United States. I am Russian," TASS quoted him as saying in response to journalists' questions about the dialogue between Russia and the United States.
As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", the actor also positively assessed the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the WEF plenary session.
Seagal received Russian citizenship in 2016. In May 2024, Putin awarded him the Order of Friendship "for his great contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation."
Earlier, on October 10, 2024, Seagal visited a penal colony in the village of Yelenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), where militants of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi group Azov (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) are being held. The visit took place as part of the filming of the film "In the Name of Justice". Then the captured Ukrainian nationalists stated on camera that they recognized Seagal and told about the conditions of their detention in the cells.
On May 9, 2025, the actor attended a parade on Red Square in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
