"Conversations about important things" on September 8 — lesson program
Students in grades 1-4 will talk about the role of language in everyday human life and its importance for uniting the peoples of Russia. In addition, children will be told what changes the Russian language has undergone over several centuries. They will also discuss how modern technologies affect written and spoken language and why it is important to strive for a clear and understandable expression of their thoughts. Primary school students will be offered to complete an interactive task, during which they will have to "decipher" a message written with emoticons.
Students in grades 5-7 will discuss with their teacher the variety of styles of the Russian language (literary, formal business, slang, everyday speech, etc.) and the relevance of their use in different life situations. The students will also learn about how the digital environment affects the modern language process and what role emoticons, stickers and abbreviations used in correspondence play in this. To consolidate the material, students will be offered to complete two tasks: guess the proverb from emoticons and choose the right symbol (emoji, punctuation mark, capslock, etc.) to give the message the desired emotional coloring. In addition, they will be reminded of the rules of digital etiquette.
Students from grades 8-9 will learn about the role of language in uniting the peoples of Russia and shaping the identity of the Russian nation. The students will discuss the changes that are taking place in the modern language environment, including under the influence of digital technologies and the Internet. Students will also talk about using artificial intelligence (AI) to develop communication, learning, and self-development skills.
Students in grades 10-11 will learn about the history of the formation of the Russian language, as well as its importance to the state. They will talk about how the language is changing, while maintaining its own characteristics, and whether it is possible to isolate the vocabulary from the influence of external factors. In addition, high school students will be reminded of the importance of observing speech etiquette and the ability to adapt to different speech situations based on the context and goals of communication.
"Conversations about important things" on September 8 — about the project
"Conversations about important things" is a cycle of extracurricular activities launched by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022. It touches on significant topics related to Russian culture, history, and geography, as well as highlights topical issues of students' daily lives (relationships with peers, choosing a future profession, finding their place in life, etc.). Classes are held every Monday in all schools and colleges in the country.
Earlier, Natalia Fedkaeva, a child psychologist at the Discovery network of bilingual kindergartens and schools, spoke about common mistakes made by parents of schoolchildren at the beginning of the school year.
