- Zakharova pointed to the EU's sarcasm towards Hungary after Ukraine's strike on Druzhba
After the Ukrainian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline, Hungary asked the European Union (EU) countries to consolidate, but in response received sarcasm and ridicule that the situation was not a problem for Europe. This was announced on September 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in the Izvestia studio at the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).
"Hungary begged, asked, and appealed to its seemingly solidary unification partners for an appropriate reaction. These are the very partners who are arming the Kiev regime, and it is using these weapons against Hungary," the diplomat said.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on August 22 that the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, was attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces again. As a result of the incident, oil supplies to Hungary were suspended. Later, on August 28, it became known that the oil supply through the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia had resumed.
Later, on August 28, Szijjarto said that Hungary had banned the commander of the Ukrainian military unit responsible for the attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline from entering the country and the territory of the Schengen area.
On September 3, the start of the WEF-2025 was announced. It will be attended by delegations from 70 countries. According to experts, the amount of contracts concluded on it can reach almost 6 trillion rubles.
