The creators of the new project did not copy the plot of the 1979 film Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears, although the script was also based on Valentin Chernykh. The story was presented in modern realities and made into a musical.

"Making the musical was the idea of Andrey, aka Zhora Gooseberry. When directors and producers like ours are around, and then screenwriters and artists, you can start doing very serious things, not be afraid to lose face and make a story today that once amazed you and the whole country, tell it in a new language, in a new way and discover the endless relevance of the classic plot."Mikhail Vrubel, one of the producers of the project, told Izvestia.
