- SCMP reported a possible increase in exports of goods from China to Russia amid US sanctions
China plans to increase exports of goods to Russia amid US sanctions. This was reported on September 3 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper, citing analysts.
"China produces goods that Russia needs, from phones to factory equipment, and their trade is gradually shifting away from the United States amid rising import tariffs," the newspaper noted.
It is specified that the increase in exports will affect cars, electronics and household appliances.
According to analysts, not only the Russian side is interested in this, but also the Chinese authorities.
"China definitely has opportunities to increase exports [to Russia], both because of the complementary nature of their economies and because of pressure from the United States," SCMP stressed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was in China on a four-day visit. On September 2, the Kremlin announced that Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping had signed 22 cooperation documents. The parties agreed to cooperate in the fields of energy, aerospace, artificial intelligence, agriculture, inspection and quarantine, healthcare, scientific research, education and the media.
